Privacy Policy – The Israel Prehistoric Society

The Israel Prehistoric Society (hereinafter: “the Society”) places utmost importance on safeguarding the privacy of its users and registrants to its activities. This document details which personal data is collected, how it is stored and secured, for what purposes it is used, and what your rights are regarding your information.


1. Types of Information Collected

When registering for the Society, subscribing to its mailing list, participating in the annual conference, or taking part in other activities, the Society may collect the following information:

  • Basic Personal Information: Full name, email address, phone number, and physical address.
  • Academic and Professional Information: Institutional/university affiliation, field of expertise, relevant academic degree.
  • Payment Information: Credit card details or other payment methods – collected and processed through a secure external payment provider and not stored on the Society’s servers.

2. Purposes of Using the Information

The Society uses personal data for the following purposes:

  1. Managing annual membership registration and mailing lists.
  2. Organizing and managing participation in the Society’s annual conference and other events.
  3. Processing payments securely via the payment provider.
  4. Producing internal statistical reports to improve the services provided by the Society.
  5. Complying with legal and reporting obligations under the requirements of the State of Israel.

3. Data Retention

  • Personal data is stored in the Society’s secured information systems, hosted on Israeli and international service providers’ servers that comply with data security standards.
  • Payment details are not stored by the Society but are transferred directly to an authorized payment provider in Israel, subject to PCI DSS standards.
  • Registration-related information will be retained as long as there is an organizational or legal need (such as issuing receipts and financial reports).
  • The Society may retain a copy of the information in its archives, as required by law or for additional legal purposes.

4. Data Security

The Society applies physical, logical, and organizational safeguards to protect the information:

  • Use of SSL encryption for all online communication with the website.
  • Restricted access to personal data, available only to authorized Society staff members for the performance of their duties.
  • Service providers’ obligation to protect information in accordance with the Israeli Privacy Protection Law, 1981.

5. Sharing Information with Third Parties

The Society will not transfer and/or disclose personal information to external parties except in the following cases:

  • The Society engages third-party providers to deliver and perform services related to digital services (including website hosting, operation, maintenance, storage, management of databases, website analytics, payment processing, management systems, and more). These third parties have access to your personal data solely for the purpose of providing the relevant services to us and are required to act in accordance with this Privacy Policy. In any case, engagement with them will be carried out in accordance with applicable law.
  • For processing payments by authorized payment providers.
  • Due to a judicial order requiring the Society to disclose the information to third parties.
  • Whenever the Society deems disclosure of information necessary to prevent serious harm to its property and/or body, to the user and/or to third parties, or to prevent other severe harm, at its sole discretion.

6. User Rights and Use of Other Websites

  • The right to access and correct information shall be granted by the Society in accordance with the provisions of the Israeli Privacy Protection Law, 1981 (hereinafter: “Privacy Protection Law”).
  • From time to time, we may send you academic, marketing, and promotional information related to the Society or its members via email or other means. Such information will be sent only if you have given your explicit consent, and in any case, you may always revoke your consent and stop receiving such messages.
  • Digital services may contain links to websites or other online resources, such as social media platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc.). When you click one of these links, you will connect to another website or online resource, which may collect information about you voluntarily or through cookies or other technologies.
  • Any use of third-party content, including any user’s access to third-party websites via links in the digital services and/or advertisements in the digital services, is at your sole responsibility, and you will have no claim and/or demand against us regarding such use, including, without limitation, for any direct or indirect damage arising from such use and/or access and/or due to privacy violations and/or any collection or use of your information by third parties. We recommend that you read the privacy policy and terms of use of those third parties.
  • If a user wishes to have their personal data removed from the Society’s records, they are entitled to submit an official request to the Society to do so.
